About our collaboration with Social Income for the next raffle

On August 22, 2026, we again raffle off an Unconditional Basic Income (UBI) to a real person. As always anyone aged 16 or older can register for free and receive a raffle number. It’s just to register at the UBI4ALL website and to confirm the participation in the raffle. 

The winner receives €9,600, paid out monthly over one to five years depending on where they live, so the income has a meaningful impact on their local economy.

Over the years, winners have used their Basic Income to change careers, finish their education, support their families, start businesses, or simply enjoy something many people rarely experience: financial breathing room.

What started in 2020 as an official European Citizens’ Initiative has grown into a worldwide community. More than 45,000 people from across the globe have been registered at UBI4ALL, and previous winners have come from several countries, Italy, Ireland, Latvia, Taiwan and others. Our community continues to grow, and we're excited to get support from so called National Representatives from Kenya, India and South Africa: Activists engaged for UBI working honorary like the entire UBI4ALL team. 

Behind every raffle is a community of recurring supporters we call the UBI Beavers. Together, they contribute an average of c. €5 per month to make the next Basic Income possible. Just as beavers reshape landscapes through countless small actions, our community believes small monthly contributions can reshape society.

This Round Goes Beyond One Winner

For Raffle #10, we're partnering with Social Income to do something we've never done before.

Alongside our usual raffle—where one randomly selected participant will receive a guaranteed Basic Income—we'll also launch a real Basic Income program for up to 15 people living in extreme poverty in West Africa.

Not someday. Not after months of preparation. Live, during the raffle.

To make it even more exciting, we'll randomly select one person from the livestream audience to help shape the program by choosing the country where it will begin. And moreover, this person will get €800 as Basic Income over one to five months depending on the country of residence.

From Conversation to Action

Via Social Income it’s easy to start a Basic Income pilot or long-term program. Through our partnership with them, we want to demonstrate that when the funding and infrastructure already exist, turning an idea into reality takes just a few minutes.

During the livestream, you'll see that transition happens in real time. From deciding to act to launching a program that will begin providing unconditional cash transfers to people who need them most.

For us, that's what this collaboration is all about.

Our raffles show what Universal Basic Income can mean for one individual.

Social Income shows how the same principle can immediately improve the lives of people living in extreme poverty in Africa.

Together, we're showing that basic income isn't just something to debate. It's something we can create—today.

What is ‘need’?

One of the issues we hear often is how we ensure that only people in need get our UBI money. Our answer: We cannot ensure. But: The UBI concept actually means just a tax reform for which rich people are much higher to be taxed in order to finance a guaranteed income for everyone. 

In the end, everyone will get a UBI but only those who are in need benefit from it. Also, we saw that all our winners had some kind of need when they won our Basic Income. So, we guess that people who feel not in need will also not participate in our raffles.  

Also our partner Social Income believes in the universality of a Basic Income. Their approach is to just start with the ones who need it most. This is why they work directly with local partners embedded in vulnerable communities across West Africa. Within those communities, recipients are chosen entirely at random, just as we do.
